Joliet police say Andre Nash deliberately removed his GPS monitoring bracelet and then hid out at a friend's house before the state caught up with him.
A Joliet man who decided to cut off his Illinois Department of Corrections home monitoring device and leave his house found himself back behind bars Wednesday night, Joliet Police Cmdr. Rich Demick said. Andre Lamont Nash, 43, declined to tell police why he deliberately removed the electronic GPS from his ankle Tuesday, leaving it behind at his 604 Clement home, or why he refused to give himself up when police tracked him down to a residence at 1417 Englewood, Demick said. Joliet police were notified of the situation by the Illinois Department of Corrections and accompanied state marshals to the Englewood address, he said. Nash, who refused to answer the door to police, was eventually arrested after the home's resident returned and allowed…

The tiny puppy snatched from a pet store in the Louis Joliet Mall Friday night has been returned safely, a store employee said Monday night. Krista Zarbock, who works for the Furry Babies store, was the first to sound the alarm about the theft of the 2-month-old blue chihuahua, contacting media outlets on Saturday and posting a note and photos on the Joliet Patch Facebook page. A subsequent story posted on Joliet Patch generated dozens of leads, Joliet Police Chief Mike Trafton said Monday. Although the details of the 1.5-pound female dog's return weren't available from police Monday night, Zarbock posted this note on Joliet Patch's Facebook site at about 10 p.m. Monday: "Our Chihuahua is safe!!! Thank you to the Joliet Police Department, …

Joliet police said they believe the incident, which involved a 14-year-old male touching the young boy's penis and having the boy touch him, only occurred once.
A 14-year-old boy has been arrested for inappropriately touching a 4-year-old and persuading the young boy to touch him, Joliet police said. The incident took place at about 1:30 p.m. Dec. 29, and was reported to police on Dec. 30, after the victim told his mother about the sexual contact, Cmdr. Rich Demick said. The victim was interviewed through the Will County Child Advocacy Center and told a child psychologist that the teen had touched his penis and had instructed him to touch the suspect's penis, Demick said. It was a single episode that occurred at the victim's house, and police do not believe the child had been molested previously, he said. The 14-year-old was taken into custody on Jan. 3 and charged with aggravated criminal sexual …

Joliet police have asked for a grand jury to investigate a missing person case opened the same day Linda Fellenbaum's family reported that she had disappeared.
Joliet police detectives have asked for a grand jury to investigate a missing person, a theft and the theft of a gun related to a case filed the same day local woman Linda Fellenbaum's disappearance was reported, according to court papers. Circumstances described in the Nov. 6 motion to appoint a grand jury and grand jury investigators—the theft and the theft of a firearm—match allegations made in the Fellenbaum case. Before the mother of three vanished on Oct. 21, her live-in boyfriend, 40-year-old Donald Wolak, reportedly went to the police and told officers she stole a "large sum of cash" and one of his handguns. Fellenbaum, 33, returned to Wolak's 3608 Crockett Court home five days later, on Oct. 21, police said. Wolak expected her to …
