Rascal is friendly, but shy.
The strong winds Sunday knocked down Christie Summers' fence. She lives in Arbor Lakes subdivision in Minooka. That news would be bad enough, but the missing fence left an opening for her dog Rascal and he took off. The 3-year-old, black and white dog was last seen around 6 p.m. "He is friendly, but very timid," Summers said. Summers is offering a reward for the dog's return. Her phone number is 815-467-9243.

First American Metal Corp. had been complained about by neighbors for noise and aesthetic issues.
For more than a year, Minooka officials have been working with First American Metal Corp. to help them to meet village ordinances. "At this point, we'd been working with them to resolve some screening issues," Dan Duffy, Minooka Village Manager said. Duffy said that the village was asking the business to erect a fence, improve landscaping, clean up the yard and eliminate noise and dust. "We want to make a buffer between residential (subdivisions) and their location," Duffy said. First American Metal Corp. is a recycling facility. In September, a resident came to the village board meeting to express concerns about the business. A fire behind 113 Industrial Drive was extinguished with the help of several local departments Monday afternoon.

A fire broke out Monday afternoon in Minooka behind First American Metal Corp.'s building at 113 Industrial Drive, in what appeared to be a garbage pile. The fire was called in around 2:30 p.m., and responders from Minooka Fire Protection District, Troy Fire Protection District and Plainfield Fire Protection District were among those reporting to the scene. Business at Family Video in Minooka was not affected by the fire burning just three buildings away. Store manager Nora McBride said there were lots of fire engines, but that she did not see anything when she went to look outside. "I could not see it from the corner window, I did not go outside," McBride said of the blaze. …

My husband & I ate there recently. Very good. I had a salad, he had a burger & we shared the spinach artichoke dip. All were phenomenal!! We are very big fans of Chapins in Morris so we knew it would be good. I'm hoping they get their kegs in soon (they didn't have them installed when we were there). We will definitely be back! more ›
