Shorewood Kiwanis Delivers Toys, Joy to Pediatric Patients at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center

“A small, simple gesture like a stuffed animal goes a long way towards making our patients feel welcomed and loved, especially children who are spending their holiday away from home,” said Toni Lee, RN, patient care manager, Pediatric Unit.

Editor's note: The following is a press release from the Kiwanis Club of Shorewood. The Kiwanis Club of Shorewood has donated 40 teddy bears to young patients at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center. Several club members stopped by the Medical Center this week to visit with children and families in the Pediatric Unit. They personally delivered the bears to their new owners and wished the children a happy holiday. UPDATE: Gunshot Victim Remained at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center Friday Night

Joliet Police said the incident is still under investigation.

Despite rumors to the contrary, there was no shooting at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center Friday night. "At this point what I can tell you is there was no shooting in the (emergency department),"  Jan Ciccarelli, director of marketing and public relations at the hospital said. "There was a young man brought in, a young gunshot victim." Joliet Police had earlier reported that they were called to a shooting in the 300 block of Ottawa Street in Joliet around 5 p.m. Friday night. The gunshot victim was taken to Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center. Ciccarelli said the man was in critical condition Friday night.
