Two Jefferson Street Robberies in Two Days
Police do no know if the incidents are connected; the only common link is both suspects are black men, Cmdr. Rich Demick said.
Two Jefferson Street robberies went down within a block of each other on two consecutive days this past weekend, Joliet police Cmdr. Rich Demick said. Despite the proximity, investigators have no information that indicates the cases may be linked other than both suspects were black males, Demick said. The first incident occurred Dec. 29 at the Check Into Cash store at 2157 W. Jefferson St. The suspect entered the building, walked behind the counter and opened a cash drawer, Demick said. While he never displayed a weapon, he kept his right hand in his pocket and intimated that he had a gun. He escaped with $1,200 cash, Demick said. Employees described the man as being in his 30s or 40s, standing about 5-foot-6 and weighing about 160 pounds…
