Tenants Moving into Growing Senior Living Community

A new independent living community in Shorewood is filling up fast, and more construction is planned for the coming year.

Shorewood will be ringing in the new year with new neighbors, a whole campus of them. The seniors this campus serves are not in high school or college. In fact, not just anybody can live there. In order to be a resident at Shorewood Horizon, 820 W. Black Road, you must be older than 62. Shorewood Horizon is a new independent living community for senior citizens. As of now, 10 single-story villas are finished and rented, and tenants are moving in. Come April, another building with 40 one- and two-bedroom apartments will be completed, according to Beth Demes, the executive director of the Alden Foundation, the developer.  "They move in with us, and it's an instant social life for them," she said.
