The Plainfield and Shorewood chambers of commerce are teaming up for an after hours event next week
The Shorewood Area Chamber of Commerce and the Plainfield Area Chamber of Commerce are double-teaming the community with a joint-effort after hours event. The Jan. 12 function will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at HomeTown Fitness, 16108 Route 59 in Plainfield. The Shorewood Area Chamber of Commerce is touting the evening affair as a "healthy jumpstart for 2011," not to mention a "great networking opportunity" and a chance to "learn about HomeTown Fitness' corporate wellness program." The HomeTown Fitness Corporate Wellness Program is an employer health program intended to make a company's workforce more physically active, and by extension healthier, in theory costing the company and its insurance program less money in covering medical costs. …

Former vice president with the Aurora chamber moves over to Shorewood to lead busniess community.
There is untold potential for Shorewood waiting to be tapped by the business community, and the woman just named president of the chamber of commerce says that's the kind of environment in which she thrives. "It's a chamber that's on the cusp of huge growth, and that's my forte," said Sally Rutledge-Ott, who starts her new job as the president of the Shorewood Area Chamber of Commerce on Monday. "I'm really excited," said Rutledge-Ott, who not only held the position of vice president in charge of member development for the Aurora Region Chamber of Commerce, but also worked as a consultant and trainer for other chambers.
