Lawyers for the Joliet woman charged with setting up a sex date with a teenage boy in the house she shares with her septuagenarian boyfriend want the cops and FBI to hand over whatever it is they got on her. "We've received the state's initial response, it's our opinion it's incomplete," said Steve Landis, one of two attorneys defending Margarita Hernandez against charges she orchestrated a sex romp with a 15-year-old Chicago boy. The homeless man charged with a break-in beating death may not be fit to stand trial, his attorney said.
A drifter charged with breaking into a Troy Township business and beating a worker to death suffers from brain damage caused by long-term and chronic drug abuse, his lawyer said Thursday. Michael Eberle, 42, has a "long history of substance abuse," including the "long and chronic use of bath salts," said attorney Stewart Ferreira during a hearing Thursday morning in Will County court. Products sold as bath salts had been commonly found in area tobacco shops. The substances could be ingested for a hallucinogenic effect. Gov. Pat Quinn banned the sale of the synthetic drugs in July, but that was four months before Eberle allegedly launched a one-man crime wave in and around Shorewood. The FBI is reportedly investigating the existence of a child pornography operation in connection with the arrest of an official from the Troy Democrats who lives with a veteran Joliet reporter.
A Troy Township Democratic official was charged with setting up a sex date with a 15-year-old boy and federal agents searched her house on suspicion she has been producing child pornography videos, police said. The Troy Middle School band director won a prestigious award.
Troy Middle School Band Director Jennifer Rosario was awarded the Barbara Buehlman Young Conductor Award at the state meeting of the Illinois Grade School Music Association. The award is given annually to a music educator who is recognized by their peers to be an outstanding teacher. Rosario has been a teacher in the Troy School District since 2005, teaching elementary general music for two years before making the transition to teaching band. In 2007 she began teaching band at William B. Orenic Intermediate School and Troy Middle School. Rosario is responsible for a great deal of the success the Troy Bands have had in recent years. Troy firefighters are going to be out fighting for the MDA.
Shorewood motorists and community members will have the opportunity to contribute to the Troy Fire Protection District's "Fill the Boot" campaign, as local firefighters station themselves to collect donations benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The fundraiser is set to kick off Sept. 15 at the intersection of Route 59 and Black Road. Firefighters will be out “ filling their boots” from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and again on Sept. 16. They will also be in front of the Crispy Waffle on Route 59 as well as the Jewel. The "drifter" charged with beating a man to death at a burial vault manufacturer's office is to be arraigned this morning.
The Joliet drifter charged with the brutal beating death of a burial vault manufacturing company employee is to be arraigned in Will County court this morning. Michael Eberle, 42, faces charges of first-degree murder, residential burglary, burglary, and possession of a stolen motor vehicle. If convicted, he faces at least 20 to 60 years in prison. Eberle was arrested after he went on a Sunday morning crime-spree in and around Shorewood late last month, according to police who have labeled the local man a "drifter."
