Joliet Man's Death an 'Apparent Homicide,' Coroner's Office Says

Few details are available on the murder of Antonio Tyler, who was reportedly shot in the 100 block of North Nicholson Street. Joliet police are investigating.

Joliet police are investigating the death of a 31-year-old Joliet man as an "apparent homicide," according to the Will County Coroner's Office. Antonio P. Tyler was declared dead at 5:45 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of North Nicholson Street in Joliet, the coroner's office said in a news release. No cause of death was released. However, the Joliet Herald News reported that Tyler was shot at about 11 a.m. in the back yard of a house. An autopsy will be conducted Monday. Three Men Shot in Last 2 Days, Police Say

One victim was shot on a friend's porch while the other two were hit as they exited Haboush's Food Mart on Woodruff Street, Joliet Lt. Kevin LaBolle said.

Three Joliet men have been shot since Tuesday -- two as they exited a small food store on Woodruff Street Tuesday night and a third on the porch of a friend's home Wednesday afternoon, Joliet police said. The 18-year-old victim in the Wednesday incident was the most seriously injured, Joliet Lt. Kevin LaBolle said. He underwent surgery for a chest wound at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet and is expected to survive. The other two victims, ages 20 and 21, were shot in the wrist and the foot and were treated at Silver Cross Medical Center in New Lenox, LaBolle said.
