Meet Ming Ming, the official Shorewood Patch Cat of the Week. This handsome gray and white cat was turned in to the Will County Humane Society by his owner because the family was moving and couldn't take him along. Ming Ming 5-years-young and quite a talker. The staff at the Humane Society thinks he might be a Siamese mix. Ming Ming is friendly to people and enjoys some good lap time. The Humane Society staff thinks he would be happiest as the only cat in the home. Look into his beautiful golden eyes and make that home yours. And here is Josie, the newest official Shorewood Patch Cat of the Week. Josie is a sweet young adult calico cat who's around 2 years old. Josie needs a new home because she no longer fit in with her previous one. She's a friendly kitten, one of the first to greet people who visit the cat room. This young adult cat is very playful and likes to chase feather toys. Sam also enjoys drinking water out of the faucet. Sam would be best as the only cat in the home. The Better Business Bureau issued a warning of common scams involving lost pets.
Possibly the most heartless of all grifters play on the emotions of pet owners, and the Better Business Bureau has issued a warning detailing some of the more common pet-related con-games perpetrated on animal lovers, of which Shorewood has more than its share. "Having a pet go missing is a devastating experience," according to a statement released by the Better Business Bureau. "When conniving people find ways to capitalize on your lost pet situation in order to scam you out of money, the loss is even more heartbreaking." This week's Shorewood Patch Cat of the Week is Betty, a sweet and playful tabby-and-white kitten. Betty's about a year old. She was found abandoned and was taken to the Will County Humane Society. Betty has tested FIV-positive, so should be the only cat in the house or live with only other FIV-positive cats, warns the staff of the humane society. "Betty is healthy and can still live a long life with this disease," according to a statement from the humane society. "She deserves a loving home like all our other adoptable animals."
