A "misplaced pacifier" is being blamed for provoking the violent argument, Joliet police said.
A lost baby pacifier provoked a heated fight Tuesday in which a Joliet man allegedly punched his live-in girlfriend, pushed her into a glass picture frame and locked her out of their home while she was naked, Joliet Police Cmdr. Al Roechner said. When Reggie L. Ratliff, 33, finally allowed the woman back into their 1007 Lois Place apartment, she fled into a bedroom, dressed and called police, Roechner said. The fight took place at about 1 p.m. when Ratliff reportedly "went into a rage and attacked (the victim) because he was upset over a misplaced pacifier" used by the child they have together, he said. Juan Monroy, who needed a interpreter in court Monday, shoved his hand into a woman's skirt and sexually assaulted her before fleeing O'Charley's Irish Tavern, Joliet police said.
A Joliet man sexually assaulted a woman in a crowded bar early Sunday morning and then nearly ran down two men trying to stop him from fleeing, Joliet police said. Juan C. Monroy, 22, of 702 Summit, had been drinking at O'Charley's Irish Pub when he approached the victim at about 2:50 a.m., shoved his hand into the her skirt and sexually assaulted her, Cmdr. Al Roechner said. He then fled the 117 N. Center St. bar. The incident was witnessed by several O'Charley's patrons, and the woman's boyfriend and another man ran outside in an attempt to capture him, Roechner said. Daniel Sanders -- a boyhood friend of his 58-year-old victim's son -- broke into the woman's home and held a gun to her head, Joliet police said.
A man wearing a mask and armed with a gun broke into a Joliet woman's home and raped her -- and then promptly fell asleep in the woman's bed with his weapon under the pillow, Joliet Police Cmdr. Al Roechner said. The 58-year-old victim didn't know her attacker until she was told his name, Roechner said. He was a boyhood friend of one her sons, he said. The attack occurred at about 3:30 a.m. April 18, when Daniel D. Sanders, 25, of 1309 Pawnee, Joliet, broke into a home in the 1200 block of Rowell Street, held a .45-caliber handgun to the woman's head and sexually assaulted her, Roechner said. A school official noticed marks on one of the children's neck and face and contacted the police; DCFS has taken protective custody of the brothers and two other children.
A Joliet woman and her live-in boyfriend were arrested Thursday on charges they beat the woman's 6- and 8-year-old sons with a belt, Joliet police said. Injuries to the face and neck of one of the boys were intially observed by a school official and when questioned, the children said they had been beaten by Revell A. A disagreement that started with a sister criticizing her brother for allegedly mistreating her son ended in a family brawl, a trip to the emergency room and an arrest for aggravated domestic battery, Joliet police said. Cmdr. Al Roechner said Brossie McKinley, 34, 1851 Asbury Circle Drive, Joliet, was babysitting his sister's 8-year-old son Friday. When the sister returned at about 4:30 p.m., she learned McKinley had poked the boy in the head in an effort to get the child to listen to him, which she objected to, Roechner said. McKinley, apparently angered by the criticism, threw the woman into a chair, punched her in the head and began to strangle her, he said. A New Lenox resident is being held on a 35-year-old murder charge in connection with a Joliet case, but police and prosecutors are trying to figure out if he's the right guy.
A New Lenox man is being held at the Will County jail in connection with a 1978 Joliet murder, but police and prosecutors are still trying to determine whether they have their man. Pedro Hernandez was taken into custody by the New Lenox police following a March 14 crash. He was charged with driving under the influence, and when officers ran his name and identifiers, discovered someone matching his description was wanted on a warrant charging him with a 35-year-old Joliet murder. The Pedro Hernandez wanted for stabbing a man in the chest on April 2, 1978, is 66. The Pedro Hernandez arrested after the crash claims to be 67. The criminal complaint on file at the Will County Courthouse identifies the victim as Julian Bresino. The Crime …
