Tiffany Unland pleaded guilty Tuesday to causing the Route 6 accident in Channahon that killed a Palatine man.
A Coal City woman who was driving drunk in Channahon last August when she plowed into another vehicle, killing the man behind the wheel, was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison Tuesday. Tiffany Unland, 30, pleaded guilty to aggravated driving under the influence and will serve 85 percent of her sentence behind bars under the deal approved by Will County Circuit Judge Robert Livas, said Charles Pelkie, spokesman for the Will County state's attorney's office. The Aug. 31 accident took place on Route 6, about a quarter mile east of Interstate 55, when an eastbound Unland crossed the center line and drove head on into the vehicle being driven by Anthony B. The Shorewood man who killed a motorcyclist in a roll-over accident on Route 59 Saturday was drunk and uninsured at the time of the collision, Plainfield police said Sunday. David C. Dietrich, 32, of 902 Bittersweet, has been charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, resulting in the death of another; driving under the influence; improper lane usage; driving too fast for conditions; and operating an uninsured motor vehichle.
