Joliet police said the charges stem from the suspect giving the girl photos of his genitalia and having nude photos of her on his cell phone.
An Addison man who had nude photos on his cell phone of his 14-year-old Joliet girlfriend and gave her pictures of his genitalia has been arrested for child pornography, Joliet police said. The mother of the girl discovered one set of illicit photos when her daughter ran away from their home in the 7000 block of Lewis and Clark Drive, which is in Joliet but has a Plainfield mailing address, Cmdr. Rich Demick said. She suspected her daughter was with her boyfriend, Jonathan Cobos, 18, and turned the pictures over to police when she reported her daughter missing, he said. When police interviewed Cobos on Wednesday, they did not find the missing girl but did discover nude photos of her on his phone, Demick said. Both sets of photos led to …

Jason Hagerstrom's alleged sexual contact began when the now 17-year-old victim was just 6, Will County Assistant State's Attorney Frank Byers said.
A Joliet man told police he began sexually abusing a young girl when she was just 6 years old, and had sex with her more than 400 times in the ensuing 10 or more years, a Will County prosecutor said in court today. Jason Hagerstrom, 35, of 1226 N. Raynor Ave., has admitted to oral, anal and conventional sex and other forms of sexual contact with the victim, who is now 17, Assistant State's Attorney Frank Byers told Judge Roger Rickmon during Hagerstrom's bond hearing. Bond was set at $5 million. After the hearing, Byers said it's likely more charges will be added to the 18 felonies Hagerstrom currently faces when the case goes to the grand jury a few weeks from now. He declined to offer any other details about the allegations, such as when…

The Shorewood man jailed on child pornography charges made another appearance in federal court.
The Shorewood IT guy jailed since August on child pornography charges appeared in federal court Friday. Christopher Kice, 42, has been held at Chicago's Metropolitan Correctional since federal agents and Shorewood police officers snatched him up from his Callaway Drive home nearly eight months ago. And Kice's journey through the federal court system appears to be far from over, as he was scheduled for another status date on May 15. Kice was arrested after his employer, a Chicago-area law firm, tipped the feds to his possibly possessing child pornography. Kice worked in the law firm's information technology department. A forensic investigation of Kice's computer equipment turned up pornographic images of young girls, according to an …

A federal case against a Shorewood man charged with possessing child pornography was postponed.
The Shorewood IT guy charged with hoarding a stash of child pornography had his case put off until February. Christopher Kice, 41, of 1110 Callaway Drive W. was scheduled for a pretrial hearing in federal court Tuesday morning but the appearance was pushed back. Kice remains in custody at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago. He faces a single count of possession of child pornography. The charge stems from a St. Patrick's Day raid on Kice's home. Federal agents went into the house and searched it. The agents reportedly seized computers and other electronic equipment from the residence. A forensic investigation of the confiscated material yielded numerous illicit computer files bearing such names as "Church Girls Gone Wild," "…

A child pornography investigation has ties to nearby Morris, the feds revealed Thursday, making it the second such case in or near Shorewood in less than four months.
A Des Plaines man arrested last month on a child pornography charge was manufacturing at least some illicit images in nearby Morris, the U.S. Attorney's Office revealed Thursday. Bobby Cruz, 32, "enticed a minor" into posing for child pornography while in the town of Morris, according to a federal indictment. The Morris incident involved but one of three alleged young victims Cruz exploited for the purpose of manufacturing child pornography, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office. Cruz was charged with four counts of producing child pornography by enticing minors to engage in sexually explicit conduct, one count of crossing a state line to engage in a sexual act with a minor under 12, two counts of transporting child …

The Shorewood police were all about and only about Edgar Hernandez.
The Shorewood Police Department gave us an accounting of what they were up to recently and it consisted of one matter in which they wrote up some tickets on a guy from Joliet and sent him on his way. Now, we know there was more going on than that. For one thing, according to records from the Will County jail, the Shorewood cops were at least hanging around when the FBI raided a house on Callaway Drive and arrested the man living there — 41-year-old Christopher Kice — on a child pornography charge. Not only that, it was a Shorewood officer who carted Kice down to the county, according to jail records. But all the Shorewood police would say about it is that it was an FBI case. Then, we had frequent commenter "Jordan" claim that Kice's …
How could the wife not know?
Hang ‘em high. If he is indeed guilty, that’s what I say. And she doesn’t get a pass from me either. When I first read the Shorewood Patch story about the man who was arrested for child pornography, I was ill. It took me three days to uncurl myself the fetal position. The alleged pedophile, Chris Kice, 41, reportedly got busted by his employer. The FBI raided his home on St. Patrick’s Day. After the forensic lab got done with his computer equipment, the FBI and Shorewood police nabbed him Aug. 22. That is when the Patch story broke. Afterwards, the comments started pouring in. Readers are defending the wife saying she didn’t know. At first, I sympathized. I know it is possible for people to be total sickos and hide it from their spouses. …

This week, Shorewood was not heart-stoppingly exciting every second of every day.
About a month or so ago, Steve, a Shorewood Patch reader, weighed in with this opinion: "Shorewood is not great nor do 'fantastic' things happen here." Then, for the coup de grace, Steve said, "Screw Shorewood!!!!" Now, we took exception to this. That's because we are fully aware of just how wonderful Shorewood is. In fact, it is undeniably the greatest place on earth and, arguably (if you choose to argue with those who believe in the existence of space people) the greatest place in the universe. But then the other day we had a pretty uneventful police blotter about a lady named Kelly Simon. The police said she blew a stop sign and got arrested on a DuPage County warrant for driving under the influence. We noted that the whole blotter was …

Jailed Shorewood resident Christopher Kice is scheduled for an afternoon appearance in front of a federal judge.
The Shorewood man jailed on kiddie porn charges earlier this week is scheduled to appear in federal court in Chicago this afternoon. Christopher Kice, 41, of 1110 Callaway Drive W. has been held without bond in the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago following his arrest Monday night on a charge of possession of child pornography. The arrest stemmed from a St. Patrick's Day search of Kice's home. During that search, federal agents seized computers and computer equipment. The seized property was analyzed and allegedly found to contain kiddie porn. More than five months later, the FBI and the Shorewood police took Kice into custody just hours after an examination conducted at the Chicago Regional Computer Forensic Laboratory yielded …

Shorewood resident Christopher Kice was arrested Monday in connection with stockpiling child pornography, according to federal agents.
Federal agents took down a Shorewood man who they say amassed an extensive collection of child pornography. Christopher Kice, 41, of 1110 Callaway Drive West, was carted down to the county jail Monday and then transported to federal custody in Chicago. FBI agents armed with a warrant for Kice's arrest collared the information technology worker Monday. According to a federal affidavit, Kice had numerous illicit computer files bearing such names as "Church Girls Gone Wild," "underage illegal preteen daughter," "pedofil," "lolitaguy," and others too filthy to print. The feds and Shorewood cops raided Kice's home on St. Patrick's Day, the affidavit said. Kice admitted to using his laptop computer to download pornography, according to the …
