This is Impossible!

"Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol" owns Shorewood.

It's three weeks at the top now for Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. That's incredible! Shorewood loves this movie. We hope Redbox has their kiosks stocked with enough discs to keep the people of Shorewood satisfied. Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol has been in first for so long, we don't even know what else there is to say about it. So we'll just get on with it and give you the list:

Impossible Dream: 'Mission Impossible' Repeats in Shorewood

The latest "Mission Impossible" movie claimed a second week at the top in Shorewood.

Shorewood's favorite Redbox movie rental for a second week in a row was Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. And not only was it the most popular movie rental, the Blu-Ray edition came in at No. 8. That's unprecedented! Shorewood just can't get enough of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, apparently. Well, good for Shorewood. We told you last week what Dave Wilson thought about it. And we have to admit, we didn't see it ourselves. But whatever. We watched the first one and thought it was really boring. To tell you the truth, we never even liked the reruns of the old TV show when we were kids either. So that's on you, Shorewood. Here's the list:

'Mission Impossible' Tops in Shorewood

"Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol" was the No. 1 Redbox rental in Shorewood last week.

Once again, Shorewood and Dave Wilson are going to have to agree to disagree. See, Shorewood seems to love Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (at least love it enough to make it the No. 1 Redbox movie rental last week), and Dave, not so much. Here's what Dave had to say about Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol in his review back in January: Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise, who also produced) is out to save the world once again in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (we’ll call it M:IGP from here out), and throughout this flick, I was rooting for the bad guys to destroy Earth and prevent us from watching another dreadful sequel like this one (it’s the fourth installment — it only feels like the 24th). Well, Dave's words of warning appear to have …

'Immortals' Beloved by Shorewood

"Immortal" was the hit movie in Shorewood this week.

You know what Redbox movie rental was tops in Shorewood this past week? Well, we'll tell you. It was Immortals. We haven't seen Immortals so let's throw it back to Redbox to see what they say about it: "The brutal and bloodthirsty King Hyperion and his murderous army are rampaging across Greece, demolishing everything in their wake with ruthless efficiency. Village after village falls to Hyperion's legions and each victory takes him one step closer to his goal: unleashing the power of the sleeping Titans to vanquish both the Gods of Olympus and all of humankind. It seems nothing will stop the evil king's mission to become the undisputed master of the world, until a stonemason named Theseus vows to avenge the death of his mother in one of …

Immortals is a good movie and you actually feel like it might have some basis in history!   more ›

Tattoo Two

"The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" has got Shorewood again.

So The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is Shorewood's favorite Redbox movie rental for a second week in a row. We at the Shorewood Patch don't know what this says about Shorewood, Redbox or movie rentals, but we do know that we read the book. It was atrocious. We also saw the Swedish movie. It was really bad. In fact, and we don't admit this to a lot of people, but we read the second book too. And guess what — SPOILER ALERT — it was horrible. But whatever. Here's the list:

The Town With A New Favorite Movie

That town is Shorewood. And that movie is "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo."

Jack and Jill, you had a nice run there. But it's over now. Sorry. Shorewood has a new favorite Redbox movie rental. That movie is The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. The crazy thing is, so many people have read the book, you would think they'd know better than to waste another two hours of their lives on the movie. But whatever. Here's the list:

'Jack and Jill' King of Hill — in Shorewood

Shorewood loves "Jack and Jill," again.

Shorewood showed its Redbox love for laugh-riot Jack and Jill for a second week in a row. Now, Shorewood may love Jack and Jill, but Shorewood Patch film critic Dave Wilson didn't find it so funny. We've already heard what Dave thinks. But here what Redbox has to say about Jack and Jill: "Jack Sadelstein is a successful advertising executive in Los Angeles with a beautiful wife and kids, who dreads one event each year: the Thanksgiving visit of his identical twin sister Jill. Jill's neediness and passive-aggressiveness is maddening to Jack, turning his normally tranquil life upside down." His normally tranquil life is turned upside down! And Adam Sandler is in it! What's not to love? Here's the list:

Can't Be Killed Shorewood Rewind

We're still alive in our tournament pool.

We got beaten up pretty good this weekend. To be honest, we didn't make out so great last weekend either. But the thing is, we're still alive! That's right, we're still in contention in our NCAA pool. Is it because we're lucky? Is it because everybody else is as bad at picking winners as us? Or maybe, just maybe, we can't be killed. Just like Jason Voorhees. No matter what happens to us, we just keep on coming. Right through the finals, when we get all the money. Now let's look at all the things we missed in Shorewood while we were distracted by the tournament: Shorewood loves Jack and Jill. Shorewood's own Jack McGuire triumphed in the primary, which probably wasn't that big a deal since no one was running against him. The Shorewood town …

'Jack and Jill' and Shorewood and Redbox

"Jack and Jill" was Shorewood's favorite Redbox movie rental.

Congratulations, Jack and Jill, Shorewood loves you best of all the Redbox movie rentals. Jack and Jill happens to be another movie that was reviewed by Shorewood Patch in-house film critic Dave Wilson. Here's Dave's take: "In the end, the moral is that love of one’s twin sibling trumps getting ahead in the advertising world. It’s a nice premise, but it’s overshadowed by the inherent cheap gags." Well, Dave got paid to see it. And nobody's paying us to rent movies, so we think we'll skip it. Here's the list:

The best movie on that list for me was Hugo. Jand and Jill was revolting!   more ›

'Hu' Goes to the No. 1 — in Shorewood!

Shorewood's got a new favorite Redbox movie rental.

The Redbox top 10 list for Shorewood is a fickle thing. It's hard to explain how some movies cling to the No. 1 spot for so long whilst others vanish from the top of the chart after a stay of only a week. Puss in Boots was one of those movies. Here today, gone tomorrow. It was replaced by Hugo, which Shorewood Patch in-house movie critic Dave Wilson reviewed not too long ago. Here's Dave's take: "When I first saw the previews indicating that Martin Scorsese was producing and/or directing a kids’ movie, I was pleased. After all, Marty has been responsible for some of the great cinematic masterpieces of our lifetime. Who wouldn’t want to see an absolute master, the guy who brought us Taxi Driver, Goodfellas and The Last Waltz, stretch out …

You could see Hugo for the award winning spectacle. Or you could go see it for the heart. Perhaps you will be astounded by the attention to detail by the master craftsmen who made each frame interesting. Or if you’re like me see it because it’s entertaining. It’s about time entertaining movies are again appreciated. Hey, Dave thanks for the pick.   more ›
