Update: Man Arrested in Stabbing Death of Joliet Teen in Romeoville

Fabian Almodovar is in custody and will be charged with the murder of Carlos Orozco, who was pronounced dead Thursday night at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital.

Update/5:55 p.m. Friday: A 22-year-old Romeoville man is in custody and will be charged with first-degree murder in the death of 17-year-old Carlos Orozco, Romeoville police said. Fabian Almodovar was taken into police custody after being discharged from the hospital, Romeoville Assistant Police Chief Steve Lucchesi said. He said Almodovar, who suffered facial injuries and a concussion, is scheduled to be transported to the Will County jail Friday night. Almodovar is accused of stabbing the Joliet teen in the chest during a fight in the parking lot at Jewel-Osco, 20 S. Weber Road. Police declined to release information on what led to the fight. Woman Busted for Beating Grandma: Cops

The victim apparently tried to intervene in a fight between her granddaughter and another family member, instigating the attack, Romeoville police said.

A Romeoville woman who attacked her grandmother after she attempted to intervene in a fight between the woman and another family member was arrested Saturday, Romeoville police said. Rachelle R. Parreno, 30, 604 Sherwood, was charged with aggravated battery of a senior in connection with the incident that occurred at her home at about 5 p.m., Assistant Police Chief Steve Lucchesi said. Parreno was fighting with a relative over an unknown topic when the 70-year-old grandmother stepped in between the two in an effort to calm the situation, Lucchesi said. It apparently had the opposite effect, with Parreno allegedly pulling the older woman's hair and kicking her, he said. Parreno was taken into custody Saturday night and taken to the Will …

Student's Arrest Tied to Friend's Overdose Death at Lewis: Cops

Romeoville police say Lewis University student Jamie Olson took steps to conceal her involvement in the suspected heroin death of her friend.

A 20-year-old Frankfort woman died of a drug overdose while at a Lewis University dorm this weekend, and the friend with whom she was staying has been arrested for trying to conceal her role in the death, Romeoville police said Monday. Anna Marinier was found dead at Fitzpatrick Hall at about 11:10 a.m. Sunday, Romeoville Assistant Police Chief Steve Lucchesi said. Although toxicology tests are still pending, it's suspected she overdosed on heroin, he said. Her friend, Jamie Olson, 21, of 9125 Letterkenny, Tinley Park, was arrested Sunday night on a felony charge of obstruction of justice and booked into the Will County jail. 'Non-Student' Found Dead in Lewis Dorm

Few details were available about the victim other than his or her body was found in the Fitzpatrick Hall.

The Romeoville Police Department and the Will County Coroner's Office are investigating the death of a "non-student" who was found deceased Sunday in Lewis University's Fitzpatrick Hall. No details on the death or the person's identity were avaiable Sunday night. The information was made public by the Romeoville-based Catholic University via its Facebook page. Employees were also notified via email Sunday night. "The authorities report there was not and is no current threat to campus," the statement said.
