$75,000 Bail Set for P.E. Teacher Accused of Having Sex with Student, 16

Ashley Blumenshine remained in the Will County jail Thursday afternoon in lieu of the $7,500 bond she needs to post to be released pending her next court appearance.

Bail was set at $75,000 today for a female Plainfield North High School teacher alleged to have had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old male student. Ashley Blumenshine, 27, of 4316 Nutmeg Lane, Lisle, was arrested early today on a charge of felony criminal sexual assault after she was discovered with the student at about 6:20 p.m. Tuesday in a parked car in the parking lot of Kohl's department store, 11860 Route 59, Plainfield. A Will County circuit judge set her bail at $75,000, of which she will need to post $7,500 bond in order to be released from the Will County Adult Detention Facility, where she's been held since early Wednesday morning.
