And officers scored another birdie recently when they presented a check to State's Attorney James Glasgow. Commander Eric Allen and Officer Paul Hulbert turned over a $2,000 contribution to Glasgow, according to a news release issued by the state's attorney's office. Shorewood police chief Aaron Klima is inviting residents to make their next best friend NIXLE. Klima, in an open letter to residents posted on the Village of Shorewood website, said communication is a key component of the partnership between residents and their police department in any community policing program. He said NIXLE can help strengthen those lines of communication. A landscaping contractor will conduct a controlled burn Wednesday around the northeast Shorewood Glen pond along Route 52.
Don't be alarmed if you see smoke around the Shorewood Glen pond on Wednesday (May 1). The Shorewood Police Department issued the following advisory on Tuesday to alert residents of a controlled burn: "Please be advised the Shorewood Glen landscaping contractor will conduct a controlled burn around the northeast Shorewood Glen pond along Route 52 (Jefferson Street) on Wednesday (May 1)," stated the police advisory. "The contractor has made proper notification to the Village of Shorewood. All pertinent public safety entities are aware of the event."

Well, no one wants to say it aloud. But I will. The communities south of downtown joliet as well as those east of Collins do not see a concern for safety. They want law enforcement to clean up after the crime. They are not concerned with making their community a safe place. more ›
