Matteson Man Wanted for Weekend Slaying

The police are hunting for a Matteson man they say pulled the trigger in a fatal shooting.

Saturday's deadly shooting in a Nicholson Street apartment was carried out by a Matteson man now wanted for murder, police said. Ruben Wayne Washington, 32, of 6333 Berry Trail in Matteson, was charged Tuesday with the murder of 31-year-old Antonio Tyler. Washington remains at large. Tyler was pronounced dead in an apartment at 110 Nicholson St. about 5:45 p.m. Saturday. Joliet police Cmdr. Brian Benton declined to give a motive for the killing but asked anyone with information on Washington's whereabouts to call detectives at 815-724-3020 or the Crime Stoppers of Will County hotline at 800-323-6734. Washington, who previously lived in Chicago, had been arrested by Joliet police on three prior occasions, most recently on a charge of …

Man Wanted For 1978 Murder Has No Prints On File With Police

The man wanted for a 1978 murder—for which another man spent two weeks in jail—had never been arrested before he was charged with the killing and has no fingerprints on file, police said.

During the two weeks a New Lenox man was wrongly jailed for a murder that another man was wanted for, Joliet detectives ran down and interviewed men and women with information on the 1978 killing. "Most of the witnesses are in their 70s and 80s," said Joliet police Cmdr. Brian Benton. "Following up on the information from these witnesses, some didn't recall from that far back." But the detectives charged with trying to find out whether they had the right person in jail had no other recourse—the man wanted for the killing had never been arrested, and his fingerprints are not on file, Benton said. The legwork resulted in locating a witness who said the man in jail, Pedro Hernandez, 67, was not the Pedro Hernandez wanted on a 35-year-old …

Missing Mom Wanted on Arrest Warrant & Evicted Weeks Before Vanishing

Missing mother Linda Fellenbaum—who is wanted on an arrest warrant—was tossed out of her Hinsdale apartment a month and a half before she vanished. Her toddler son remains missing as well.

Just a month and a half before she supposedly ran barefoot into the Joliet night, never to be seen again, DuPage County Sheriff's deputies served an eviction order at missing mom Linda Fellenbaum's Hinsdale apartment. Fellenbaum's possessions were carried from the apartment on Sept. 5 and left outside. By then, according to police, Fellenbaum, 33, was living with her new boyfriend, Donald Wolak, in his house on Joliet's west side. According to the report, she did not return to collect her things. Wolak and Fellenbaum's relationship started after they met online in late August, police said, but the affair had apparently soured by Oct. 16. That was when Wolak, 40, told police Fellenbaum stole a "large sum of cash" and one of his handguns. …

Joliet Police Hunting For Alleged Home Invader

This wanted man allegedly doused his girlfriend's bed with gasoline but took off before she arrived at the house.

A Joliet man allegedly menaced his ex-girlfriend's sister and her boyfriend with a pistol on Monday. The day before that, police said, this same man, 32-year-old Norman Simpson, broke into his girlfriend's house and doused her bed with gasoline, but gave up on waiting for her to return home and left. A week earlier, police said, Simpson made his way into a west side residence and pointed a shotgun at one of the occupants, but did not pull the trigger. And on Wednesday, Joliet police detectives secured a $1 million warrant for Simpson's arrest. The warrant carries charges of home invasion, residential burglary, aggravated battery, and possession of a weapon by a felon. Simpson, last of 1318 Demmond St., was already wanted for failing to …

Bad Number Shorewood Police Blotter

The cops were randomly running license plates again.

The cops hit a lucky number—for them, anyway—when they randomly ran a license plate and found themselves a wanted man, police said. Kenneth Berlinquette, 27, of 115 Twin Oaks Drive in Joliet was pulled over at 12:30 a.m. Friday. A cop picked out Berlinquette "after a random license plate check revealed the vehicle owner was wanted," police said. What Berlinquette was wanted on was a larceny charge out of Kane County, police said. Berlinquette was arrested on the warrant but released from custody after posting bond. He was then free to leave Shorewood and go back to Joliet.

Lee, I already knew all of that. Now do you realize all of the wasted time and man power not to mention money that goes into just letting people go. My point is why even bother taking them to the station to do the paperwork and waste all the resources when you know you will be letting them go on a I bond and not getting any money.   more ›

A man released from prison less than a year ago is wanted for allegedly shooting four people last week.
