Update: Man Arrested in Stabbing Death of Joliet Teen in Romeoville

Fabian Almodovar is in custody and will be charged with the murder of Carlos Orozco, who was pronounced dead Thursday night at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital.

Update/5:55 p.m. Friday: A 22-year-old Romeoville man is in custody and will be charged with first-degree murder in the death of 17-year-old Carlos Orozco, Romeoville police said. Fabian Almodovar was taken into police custody after being discharged from the hospital, Romeoville Assistant Police Chief Steve Lucchesi said. He said Almodovar, who suffered facial injuries and a concussion, is scheduled to be transported to the Will County jail Friday night. Almodovar is accused of stabbing the Joliet teen in the chest during a fight in the parking lot at Jewel-Osco, 20 S. Weber Road. Police declined to release information on what led to the fight. Man Who Bilked Slot Machine May Be Part of $1M Theft Ring: Prosecutor

Harrah's has lost nearly a million dollars in Illinois and Mississippi thanks to memory cards that allow gaming machines to be manipulated into paying out winnings, Assistant State's Attorney Dave Borenstein said.

An Indiana man who allegedly manipulated a Joliet slot machine into paying him more than $760 could be part of a larger ring that's reportedly stolen nearly $1 million from Harrah's casinos in Illinois and Mississippi, a Will County prosecutor said Monday. The Illinois State Police, working with the Illinois Gaming Board, arrested Lawrence Wayne Culp, 60, of Monticello, shortly after midnight Sunday after he allegedly collected illegal winnings from Harrah's Casino, 151 N. Chicago St., Joliet, Will County Assistant State's Attorney Dave Borenstein said. Culp was charged with three felonies: computer fraud, computer tampering and cheating at a gambling game. Joliet Man Busted for Sex Abuse of Teen

Police arrested Luis Loza, who is accused of allegedly having sex with a teenage girl for than two years, according to charges.

A 25-year-old Joliet man who allegedly had sex with an underage girl several times over a two-year period has been arrested by the Joliet police. Luis Loza, of 214 Madison, was booked into the Will County jail Wednesday on three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to Will County State's Attorney's Office spokesman Charles Pelkie. The Class 2 felony charges state that Loza had sex and other forms of sexual contact with the victim, who was identified only as a girl between the ages of 13 and 17. If convicted, each charge carries a prison sentence of three to seven years. Pelkie said their information indicates that the sexual abuse began on June 28, 2010, and continued through Aug. 15, 2012.
