@Shantel Rose--You're so right---"religion" and not true relationship with a loving Father does this. Religion says priests can't marry, not God. I say, be very, very wary of any unmarried man, priest or no priest, who wants to work with children, especially boys/young men. They often have ulterior motives, and darn that church/institution for having the gall to cover it up. Their priorities are all messed up, and they do need to be held accountable for it.
I left the catholic church many years ago for a true relationship with Jesus, and have never turned back. Catholics often get offended when a person leaves "THE church", but I now know it's not THE only church. Furthermore, the concept of God's unconditional love is often (in my experience) a foreign concept to them. You leave the church, they judge you. They are full of do's and don'ts and "mortals" and "venials"---but ignore the more important matters of love, mercy, compassion and GRACE. They make things up that are not in the Bible, such as the immaculate conception of Mary and some even elevate her as a "co-redeemer". It's time catholics learn to read the Bible for themselves---they'd see that, for instance, a man of God (i.e. "priest") can marry, especially if they have lust issues! This post may offend some, but if you have a sincere heart, and check into it, you'd see it's true. Peace and healing to the victims~repentance and healing to the perpetrators.

Please stop with the racist remarks on both sides---you know, "two wrongs DON'T make a right"! I hear all the african americans and at least one hispanic getting riled up here. How about write it off, and not take the bait? There are plenty of anglo's who love all people and just want PEACE and SAFETY, and yet feel threatened and unnerved by what they read in the paper---is it safe on the east side or Lois place or St. Pat's neighborhood for a "blonde haired, blue eyed little girl" to go?! NNNNOTT alone. Sometimes it's downright scary! We should not fear to go anywhere---but we do. Most of us don't carry guns and knives, but the bangers and thugs DO! That's why conceal and carry needs to be established in Joliet (and Illinois). TO LEGITIMATELY PROTECT OURSELVES. Anything less is unacceptable.

Amen to LEGITIMATE conceal and carry. Way too much anger and murder on the streets. Whatever is the problem? Too hot out there? Poverty? Wannabe-ism? There's just no excuse. Death is PERMANENT. Life is precious.

@Dan Johnson---no, not true. You are truly reading into Scripture and adding to it and taking away from the inherent meaning which is quite clear---God loves all people, but the homosexual behavior is harmful and not acceptable in His eyes. Just what does it mean when it says in Romans1:27.."and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due"? Does that happen to kind and loving individuals in a committed relationship, too, or is that reserved for your "pagans and idolaters"? Don't you see the illogic in your comments? Homosexuality and its behavior is ultimately between God and the individual, and the government needs to stay out of it. It's all politics when the government gets involved, we know that. We have to get past our feelings and back to sound thinking and reality, and what is best and right and good for the whole and not just the "kind and loving" individuals. There's a trainwreck coming, and we can't see the forest for the trees. Furthermore, it really doesn't matter what some PHD's have written about it, what matters is what the Bible clearly states---but we have walked away from the Truth and are embracing the LIE (as Romans 1:25 warns of). God have mercy on our country. (please see Proverbs 1:20-33) You may use all the logic you want, but it will NEVER negate the Word of God.

@ just answer---I agree with you definition and explanation of natural. Genital and digestive do not naturally mix. My degree in biology, as well as common sense, attest to this.
@Dan Johnson---I stand by what the Word of God says, as well as what the Holy Spirit in me confirms. God hates no person, nor does He fear, so true, He is not a homophobe---a really nasty label for anyone, and unloving. He (God) is also not a homophil (inordinately loving and approving of the homosexual lifestyle), as seen clearly in Romans 1, which is referring to any man with a man, or woman with a woman. Don't add or take away from the Scripture, please.

@Kim---I agree. There is just so much in your post that people will misunderstand and take out of context, but I get it, and you have the mind of Christ on it as far as I, and many others am concerned. There's lots of disagreement on homosexuality--even among Christians, and we have to agree to disagree (agreeably, hopefully) at this point. We are to always love one another, but honestly, even parents of toddlers know that you have to correct sometimes for the child's own good, and not let them have their own way because they cry or pout---or have a temper tantrum. THAT is real love. Give 'em an inch, and you bet they will take a mile. So haters out there, leave off the nasty, irreligeous comments. We have a right to our faith, too.

Conceal and carry classes are in full swing now, and it isn't free--you have to take a four hour class, pay $100+ for it and pass it---best to get informed so you won't pee-pee down your pants as some people suggest. DUH.

God bless you and your family Holli---I would guess you are very loving people seeking to sincerely follow Jesus. I do believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, according to 2 Timothy 3:16 and 2 Peter 1:20-21, or "God-breathed"... and God the Holy Spirit, in authoring the first chapter of Romans, did clarify His take on homosexual behavior---certainly not on the PEOPLE involved. Nevertheless, the people getting married, or desiring to, will almost certainly perform homosexual acts---which God specifically says in the New Testament (Romans 1:22-28) --for those of you only quoting certain verses from the Old Testament to prove some point about shrimp and child-stoning, is "committing what is shameful". It clearly is in the New Testament, and Jesus said the Holy Spirit would say nothing unless it agreed with Him, so it might as well been Jesus saying it---they are One in mind and purpose (see John16:12-15). I see that every other comment was very encouraging and complimentary, and indeed you have a gift for writing, but let's not try to make those who don't see it your way as uncompassionate or unkind. We just believe what the Bible says, and some of us are Christians, some are not. Please, no hateful, mean or disparaging comments. Someday, we will all understand God and His ways a lot better, on the other side. :)

@ Plainfield Conservative--Sounds impossible, but are you all aware of the looming EMP attack threat, especially from North Korea? It might be smart to get to know an Amish person or two---maybe visit Shipshewana, too, and get educated. This is a very real threat, unfortunately, and most people will not be prepared. It could throw the US back to the 1800's, pre-electricity and cars days. Not a pretty picture. It seems the government has done very little to counter this type of attack, even though there are things that could be done--Israel is well-prepared for it, and we would be smart to learn form them.

Now's the time to sign up for the "conceal and carry" class---whether they like it or not, it WILL be legal but you need the class (and more money) to carry as of June. WHOO-HOOO Illinois!
