Big Crowd Turns Out for Dedication of Veteran's Memorial Park in Shorewood

Despite chilly, damp weather many local residents turned out for the dedication of Shorewood's new park and to observe a Memorial Day celebration at Shorewood's Towne Center.

On Monday night, a large group of local residents turned out for the official dedication of Veteran's Memorial Park at Shorewood's Towne Center.

The ceremony was the highlight of the Village's first Memorial Day celebration.

Mayor Rick Chapman welcomed visitors to the park and saluted all the veteran's in attendance. Michael Wierman read the Gettsburg Address, and the Rev. G.A. Klima delivered his own address, "This is Holy Ground." The night also included a performance by the Joliet Bicentennial Orchestra.
