Shorewood's Skooter's Earns Big "Yahoo!"

When we first walked into Shorewood's new Skooter's, we wondered if we were in Hooter's. The cute filly servers wore Daisy Duke's and cowboy hats.

The new theme is Cowgirl Chic, with kitschy Western decor. We wondered if the food was going to be as good as the environment.

When our group of four sat down at the table, we were soon reminded that before the place was a roadhouse, it was a chophouse. We got the same quality food that we came to expect at Louie's.

Our appetizer's started with yummy gitty up shrimp. They were butterflied and grilled to a little crisp, just the way I like them. The boneless wings were flavorful but not fatty. Of course, we had to try the deep fried bacon. It was definitely worth ordering once, so long as your doctor isn't with you.

The brisket got rave reviews. However, it was disappointing that only one barbeque sauce was available. It would be nice to have two or three choices. Our friend who ordered a burger said it was over-cooked, but otherwise good.

The salmon was prepared superbly. I'm not a salmon fan, so I'm relying on my girlfriend who claims salmon can so easily be done badly. She was rather impressed.

My carne asada was very juicy and tender. The portion size was just right. The tortillas were better than average.

The whole environment was fun. The bar was packed. There was a 45-minute wait for the table, which we didn't mind. We ran into some long-ago friends at the bar and laughed while we waited.

The bartenders were attentive and gave good service. Our food server was fine, not bad but not great. We split the food and she rang the wrong food on them. Otherwise, there were no complaints.

The food arrived hot. That's probably because the restaurant was well-staffed with food runners.

We had a great time. It was good food, reasonable prices, good service and a fun atmosphere. We're looking forward to going again.
