N.Y. Yankees Buy Contract of Slammers' Aaron Dott

Lights-out lefty Aaron Dott allowed no runs in 11 innings with Slammers, looks to make Bronx Bombers proud.

Aaron Dott was wondering when his time would come.

The lefty had dominated the Frontier League out of the bullpen but had yet to hear the call from affiliated baseball.

Tuesday the call finally came. Dott is headed to the Sally League to play for the Charleston RiverDogs, the Class A affiliate of the New York Yankees.

“I loved it here in Joliet; we were taken care of really well by the front office,” Dott said. "I really enjoyed my time here but it’s not where I want to be professionally so now it’s time to move on and try something else.”

Dott has experience in affiliated baseball, having pitched for the Tampa Bay Rays organization for two seasons. He pitched in the Class A Midwest League last year.

“I’m just glad that someone finally noticed that I’d made some changes,” Dott said. “I’m a better pitcher than I used to be, I’ve grown up, and I’m glad to get a second chance.”

With the Slammers, Dott pitched 11.1 innings and did not give up a run. He was 1-0 with one save.

Affiliated baseball continues to come to the Slammers looking for talent. Closer Ryan Quigley’s contract was purchased by the Nationals earlier this year but after a failed physical he returned to Joliet.
