Edgar Hernandez Shorewood Police Blotter

The Shorewood police were all about and only about Edgar Hernandez.

The Shorewood Police Department gave us an accounting of what they were up to recently and it consisted of one matter in which they wrote up some tickets on a guy from Joliet and sent him on his way.

Now, we know there was more going on than that. For one thing, according to records from the Will County jail, the Shorewood cops were at least hanging around when the FBI raided a house on Callaway Drive and arrested the man living there — 41-year-old Christopher Kice — on a child pornography charge.

Not only that, it was a Shorewood officer who carted Kice down to the county, according to jail records. But all the Shorewood police would say about it is that it was an FBI case.

Then, we had frequent commenter "Jordan" claim that Kice's neighbors "felt it necessary to vandalise/deface the (family's) home by throwing rocks & eggs at it."

This sounded interesting, so we asked the Shorewood police what was up at the Kice's 1110 Callaway Drive W. residence.

It took them two days, but the Shorewood police did get back to us to say there was "a complaint of unknown kids egging a house, no damage."

Now, we at the Shorewood Patch do not condone the throwing of eggs at anyone's home. But this doesn't sound nearly as bad as Jordan was trying to make it out to be. Then again, once Jordan starts commenting on the Internet, she doesn't seem to let the facts get in the way of her story.

Yet the police probably never would have even let us know about the eggs thrown at Mr. Kice's house unless we specifically asked about it, just as we did Monday morning. They could have swept the whole thing under the rug. And that makes us wonder — what else is getting swept under Shorewood's rug?

Well, we here at the Shorewood Patch are going to do our very best to try and find that out. But for the moment, all we got is Edgar Hernandez. So here you go:

The arrest of Edgar Hernandez

The Shorewood police said one of their officers noticed a driver failing to wear his seat belt, pulled the car over, and found out the unbelted teen's license was suspended.

Edgar Hernandez, 19, of 708 N. Hickory St. in Joliet was stopped on Brook Forest Avenue near Black Road about 7:30 p.m.

Hernandez was taken into custody on the suspended license charge and cited for allegedly failing to wear his seat belt.

Hernandez posted bond and was "given court information," police said.
