Michael Gant, 54, of 1223 Buffalo St. was charged with retail theft in connection with an incident at the Home Goods store on Brookforest Avenue.
Earlier this week, the Shorewood police gave no information about why Gant was in jail, instead saying they were still working on the reports associated with his arrest.
Along with Gant, the police also arrested Rhonda Edwards, 19, of 2425 Ingalls Ave. in Crest Hill. Both were taken into custody about 11 a.m.
Edwards was also charged with retail theft but she posted bond and avoided a trip to the county jail.
The police failed to disclose what they are accusing Gant and Edwards of supposedly stealing.
