Teenage overachiever

A Plainfield teen found himself in all sorts of trouble following an ill-fated excursion to the on Route 59, police said.

Samuel Mohler, 18, of 23440 W. Van Horn Lane was arrested on charges of theft, possession of stolen property, criminal damage to property, possession of drug equipment, possession of alcohol by a minor, and resisting or obstructing a peace officer in connection with his 6:30 p.m. visit to the 950 Brookforest Ave. supermarket.

The Shorewood police say they were called out to the Dominick's to check out a theft in progress. Once there, they reportedly found Mohler stealing a bottle of booze, which earned him the theft charge. He was also holding stolen "videos and movies," and that's what got him the possession of stolen property charge, police said.

At some point, Mohler broke the bottle of liquor, police said, which resulted in the criminal damage to property charge. He also allegedly resisted and obstructed when the cops tried to arrest him.

The Shorewood police gave no information on what Mohler supposedly had on him that led to his getting charged with possession of drug equipment.

But even after all of that, Mohler managed to post bond and dodge a trip to the county jail.
