The old "no rear registration light"

A Joliet couple was pulled over at the Joliet Inn — which is actually in Shorewood. One of them was able to get out of Shorewood without going to jail. The other one wasn't so lucky.

Heather White, 19, of 2717 Campbell St. was pulled over at the frontage road motel just before midnight, apparently for having a bad back license plate light. Then the Shorewood cops arrested her on charges of possession of drug equipment, driving without a valid license, and the thing with the rear registration light.

White posted bond and got to go home. But a passenger in her car was less fortunate.

Edwin Fitts, 56, of 510 Strong Ave. was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug equipment. And Fitts went to jail for it.

Drug arrest

A 16-year-old was taken down on a marijuana charge after allegedly failing to use his turn signal properly.

The unidentified teen was taken into custody during a traffic stop in the parking lot of the Joliet Inn about 11:30 p.m. The police then released him into the custody of a parent.

The police did not reveal what town the teen is from, but did say he is white.
