Snagged by seat belt

A Crest Hill woman pulled over for a seat belt violation ended up getting arrested on an Orland Park warrant, said.

Tierra Thompson-Smith, 22, of 1200 Rock Run Drive was taken into custody about 1:45 p.m. near the intersection of Interstate 55 and Black Road.

Passengers in Thompson-Smith's car weren't wearing their seat belts, and this caught the attention of a cop, police said.

As it happened, Thompson-Smith had a warrant for her arrest out of Orland Park charging her with shoplifting, police said, and she was taken into custody.

Thompson-Smith was unable to post bond and was turned over to the Orland Park Police Department, police said.

Teen taken into custody

A Joliet teen failed to signal a turn and was arrested for driving without a valid license, police said.

The 17-year-old girl was pulled over shortly after 1:30 a.m. at the station on West Jefferson Street. She was released after posting bond.
