Hey Shorewood, get your bats and gloves out of the closet and start limbering up your arms because the Slammers are holding tryouts on April 29.
“We’re excited to see if we can find some hidden gems,” said Slammers Vice President of Baseball Operations Ron Biga said. “All our coaches will be in attendance and it should be a good time for everyone.”
That's right, the defending champion Slammers are opening the gates to Silver Cross Field for the 11 a.m. tryout. All it takes to give it a shot is $40 and a dream. And that $40 has to be in cash. No, seriously, they are only accepting cash money.
Oh, and due to Frontier League rules, if you were born on or before Dec. 31, 1984, you're too old to even try out. Sorry, but most dreams die. It's just the way it is.
Enough of that, though. If you're young enough, and have the money, come on down. And make sure you bring your own equipment, including helmets and wood bats.
Players need to arrive by 10 a.m. And if the tryout is canceled due to rain, you're as out of luck as a 28-year-old, because there will be no makeup day.
